The COVID-19 pandemic that struck the world last year is still spreading rapidly across the globe, putting a strain on the health care system. Currently, there are 22,106,557 Covid-19 infected patients in need of some specific rehabilitation therapies.
From 17 to 21 May 2021 18 teams and 10 individuals from 9 countries, competed in the VR4REHAB hackathon, with one common goal: invent Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) solutions for Long Covid rehabilitation.
On Monday at 10 am, we kicked off the digital VR 4 Long Covid Rehab Hackathon. The hackathon is part of the Interreg NWE VR4REHAB project. During this innovative event, teams and individual participants competed against each other to come up with the best VR/AR solutions for Covid rehabilitants.
Brainstorming, puzzling, but also laughing, all the early ideas grew into real pitches this week, which were presented to a VR expert panel in the grand finale on Friday afternoon. The 9 best ideas with entrepreneurial potential will be presented in the development jams, where we will take the step towards developing a prototype.
The VR4REHAB Team warmly congratulates the 9 finalists (in random order):
