Pace your rehab in an engaging VR world with music & beats combined with validated realtime breath measurement that turns the exercises into manageable training and makes them enjoyable

Research and interviews show that patients who suffer from long covid find it very difficult to pace. Another important issue is that they suffer from irregular and changed breathing patterns which prevent them from a recovery process as you would normally expect.

With the mask-less CPET headset, people will be able to do online VR helped exercises from which we can not only measure the effects of the exercises, we can also quantify the effect and see where the cause might be coming from (by comparing the heartbeat versus the oxygen intake from the lungs during exercise).

What makes your project unique?

Beats Against Covid wants to implement pacing mechanics triggered by music. Based on other research we’ve found on this subject we want to research if we can combine that with the right amount of exercise in a virtual environment.

CPET measurement is a golden standard to measure the relations between CO2 and 02 consumption and give a real-time pattern of the metabolism and the breathing pattern of a person.

So far CPET testing has always been done with head masks; this causes difficulties such as stress and freedom of movement for especially lung patients. The combination with a scalable VR platform and validated real-time measurement gives caretakers and patients immediate information of the person’s condition and progress.

The patient can train independently at home. With remote monitoring and real-time adjustments from the therapist.

This and the combination of the breath measurements and training in the VR worlds on pacing and building up physical capacity is what makes our product unique.

The therapist’s role is to give feedback with the insights from the data to the patient. So they learn to feel the need to rest on time. Or to be able to continue to train a little longer.

The VR training worlds can be adjusted to the needs of the patients, the beats help them relax or train at a good pace!
