We are pleased to announce that Dr. Stephan Krohn, will be the keynote speaker of the second Plenary Session “Towards a critique of virtual reason – with Kant we can…” at  VR4REHAB-from ideas to Reality, 24 June 2021 from 11.30 CET.

Biography

Dr. Carsten Finke is a cognitive neuroscientist & consultant neurologist at Charité Berlin and the Berlin School of Mind & Brain. I am interested in the pathophysiology, diagnosis, and treatment of cognitive deficits in neurological disorders.

Dr. Finke is head of the Cognitive Neurology Lab at Charité Berlin. Our research focuses on cognitive deficits in neurological disorders: We aim to improve the diagnosis and treatment of cognitive deficits and we study patients with focal lesions or distinct network changes to learn about the principal organization and function of the healthy human brain. We have a specific interest in neuroimmunological disorders, such as autoimmune encephalitis, multiple sclerosis, and neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder, but we also study patients with developmental, vascular, and neurodegenerative disorders. We use a broad range of research methods, including structural and functional MRI, comprehensive neuropsychological assessments, and immersive virtual reality setups.

The keynote speech is entitled “Virtual reality applications for cognitive neurology”, Dr. Finke and his colleague Dr. Krohn will investigate the recent advancements in immersive Virtual Reality (VR) technologies that provide new tools for developing new and applications for neurological rehabilitation.

Dr. Finke says “At VR4REHAB-from ideas to reality I would like to connect with other researchers working in the field of clinical applications of virtual reality and get inspiration for future joint research projects.”

The keynote will be followed by the presentation of the VR4REHAB applications VR Traveller and  Crystal Ball by Lukas Lorentz.
